Katharina Böhm - The Thinker

While working on her own game, the former German national player discovered her fulfilling role in life: helping young golfers improve.

With a golf course architect as a father, and a mother who placed a lot of emphasis on sporting activities for the whole family, Katharina was destined to be a golfer. "Through my father, I came into contact with golf at a fairly young age," she remembers.

Katharina was three years old when she first tried to hit a golf ball and had fun being out on the course or the driving range while growing up in Munich. At the age of about 11, she started to take the game seriously and began working on her swing almost every day.

Being dedicated, talented, and a hard worker, Katharina rose quickly through the ranks of German amateur golf, represented her home country with the women's national team, and earned herself a full-time scholarship to the College of Charleston, where she played college golf from 2010 to 2014.
"Playing golf in the US was much more than a sporting experience. I learned so much about life and myself, met so many incredible people, and really gained a second home so far away from my actual home in Bavaria."

It was especially the coaching staff at the College of Charleston that left a profound impression on Katharina and inspired her to become a coach herself. Returning to Germany in 2014 with a sharp golf game, a handicap of +1, and a pretty good idea of what her future should look like, she quickly decided to make coaching and the mental side of the game her profession.

Back at her home club of Munich Aschheim, Katharina became a fully qualified PGA professional in 2021 and takes enormous pride in her work with the Munich Aschheim Tigers, her squad of young girls who share her passion for the game.

"What could be better than working together as a team to become better athletes?" she asks rhetorically while speaking about her mission not only to coach those golfers on the golf course but also to help them find their role in life.

It's easy to see that, thanks to golf, Katharina couldn't be in a better place: "Golf gave me so much because today it has turned from a hobby into my profession, and I couldn't imagine anything better than helping hard-working players enjoy it every day as much as I do. Keep swinging, keep enjoying!"
